Description:

Batesville Main Street is thrilled to announce that it will be hiring its first paid Executive Director thanks to a grant from the John A. Hillenbrand Foundation. “This is a wonderful opportunity for the JAH Foundation to actively invest in the long-term health and vitality of this great community that we all love,” states JAH Board and Batesville Main Street Board Member, Lisa Tuveson.

Batesville Main Street’s mission is to stimulate downtown revitalization by building consensus and cooperation through communication, as well as promotion, design and economic restructuring. For the past several years, Batesville Main Street has operated under the City of Batesville as an all-volunteer organization. According to board member, Anne Raver, “During that time, our board has grown and strengthened into a dynamic group of community leaders who have a passion for enhancing the downtown.” “Main Street communities benefit from and experience a much higher rate of success when they employ a paid executive director,” says Molly Freeland, board chairperson.

This year, Batesville Main Street partnered with the Batesville Area Arts Council (formerly RAA) and were awarded a National Endowment for the Arts OUR TOWN Grant, HeART and Sole of Downtown Batesville. The grant will bring public art to the downtown, as well as provide funds for the planning and design of future downtown gathering spaces with a concentration on the Walnut Street Corridor between West Pearl and George. The part-time salaried position will require 30 or more hours per week. The Executive Director will function as the program manager for Batesville Main Street and will report to the chair of the board of directors. This person will be responsible for the development, execution and documentation of Main Street programs.

The Executive Director is the principal on-site staff person responsible for coordinating all project activities locally, as well as representing the community regionally as appropriate. Interested applicants may submit their resume to batesvillemainstreet@gmail.com by November 30
