Maintenance Technician

Primary Functions:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the appearance, operation, and maintenance of parish facilities, including buildings and grounds. This position provides and coordinates maintenance services in parish facilities (church, school, etc.) and maintains the physical facilities of the parish.

• Complete repairs and maintenance tasks on mechanical and other equipment, including heating and air conditioning, electrical systems, plumbing, doors, appliances, furniture, fixtures, and vehicles.
• Complete scheduled maintenance tasks, including changing filters and light bulbs, cleaning of plumbing traps, and checking physical operation of equipment, building, doors, and windows.
• Responsible for the excavation process which includes digging and backfilling the grave for a burial in church cemetery.
• Responsible to respond to emergency maintenance issues during and after hours and some weekends.
• Must maintain the church, rectory, school, cemetery, shrine, ball diamonds and any other property that is Holy Family’s responsibility.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
• Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing skills are necessary.
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and to have complete mobility in the buildings and grounds.
• Ability to work with minimal direction. Self-motivated.
• Ability to organize and manage workload to meet deadlines.

Education, Training & Experience
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and work experience that allows the employee to perform the required work.
• Must be able to understand and to comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct.
• Must be able to complete successfully the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Safe Parish Training.
• Background screening required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to stand, stoop, sit, walk, talk, feel, hear, and handle.
