Shipping/Receiving Clerk with Sign on Bonus

EDUCATION: The Clerk should have a High School Diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE: Previous work experience is not required, but work experience in shipping/receiving or other related business would be a plus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: this position requires a person to be able to speak, read, write, and conduct business in English. This person shall also have sufficient eyesight (natural or corrected) to read business documents and properly fill out appropriate forms and documents. This person will occasionally be required to lift up to 80 lbs and climb ladders.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the ability to understand and then follow both written and verbal work instructions and procedures without direct supervision after the initial training period is successfully completed and documented. The Clerk should have sufficient mental capacity to understand and successfully implement changes in work tasks as required. The Clerk should have both the intelligence to understand what is expected and the initiative to perform all relevant tasks with a minimum of supervision.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The Clerk will be working in the RICCA Warehouse. While the environment may be heated in the winter, there is no provision for climate control in the summer except for the use of fans. The Clerk may occasionally be exposed to ruptured or otherwise leaking Packages, some of which may contain Hazardous Materials. Where appropriate, proper safety equipment should be utilized and/or appropriate personnel notified.

TASKS AND DUTIES

• Act responsibly at all times to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of self, co-workers, visitors, neighbors, and property. This includes compliance with all RICCA CHEMICAL safety policies and procedures, and working knowledge of government regulations, particularly hazardous material regulations.
• Wears proper PPE where and when required, which may be gloves, apron, goggles, respirator, safety shoes, arm protectors and the like.
• Attends all required safety meetings and training sessions.
•Follows all company safety & security procedures and policies.
•Arrives to work on-time and ready to work at the start of the workday.
•Order consumables such as tape and labels used in the shipping department.
•Maintain assigned stock and overflow areas by keeping inventory rotated and fronted.
•Keep work area clean and orderly, sweeping, dusting, and organizing as needed.
•Pull, package, and ship orders of various sizes as applicable.
•Determine acceptability of stock for sale and make necessary decisions regarding reclamation/disposition of stock not acceptable for shipment.
•Prioritize work in a timely manner as the day progresses to insure shipment of expedited, rush, and oldest orders.
•Maintain working knowledge of the laws and regulations applicable to the storage and transportation of all RICCA CHEMICAL products, particularly those governing Hazardous Materials.
•Prepare Bills of Lading in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
•Be able to rate shipments of all sizes and estimate freight costs when requested.
•Utilize the computers to produce the tasks/information needed.
•Receive incoming items according to the most recent procedure.
•Works overtime as needed or as instructed by a manager or supervisor.
•Other duties as assigned.
